Labor Day dawned bright and early. And after breakfast the seniors gathered everyone together in the dining room and assigned everyone to teams and then proceeded to hand us a stack of envelopes filled with riddles and clues of things we were supposed to do and either video or take pictures of. I don't have the videos yet but I'll put them up when I get aold of them :P
OUr first clue was to got to the footbridge we cross on the way to dairy queen and to find a flat rock and have our picture taken with it.
So, meet our team....

Another clue was to find the place where we had our school pictures taken and to either make a fish or a smilie face...
can you guess which one we picked?
Another was to get a pic with a bill of sale from a "little Walmart"
So here is a picture of some of us waiting for Justin outside of Pamida...
Some of the other interesting things we had to do was to sing 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer' in front of the Post Office in town. You should have seen the lady that walked in while we were there. And the other lady in the car rolled down the window to listen, and we politely waved as we sprinted back to the car to see what our next clue was. The very last was, uh, freshman guy propose to freshman girl after running up four flights of stairs. So guess who was the only freshman girl on our team? You guessed it. Yours truly. You'll have to see the video because the whole way up the stairs the guys were arguing over who was gonna propose to me. Poor Isaac Friesen (Kevin's age) lost the argument. Lets just say he faced a bitter and somewhat violent rejection. :P
Cowboys/cowgirls with a large herd of cattle right on the side of the road! So cool! :)
A relay race starting out with a three legged run around the room, balancing something on your head across the room, then they had to dress up in the provided clothes and race over to another chair where thay would take off the clothes a gain and then go and tag the next team.
Ummmmm....... trying to decide what to say about this one... :P
Guys in skirts? Stephen would loudly (teehee) protest and call it a laplap. :P basically the common wear for men in Papua New Guinea... He is given a really hard time about it.... and his beelume (however you spell that)
Isaac, Jeremiah Shively and Stephen:
FOOD! LOTS of it.....
Across from the church!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so beautiful!!!! :) It made me happy to see the small town and just it's openness.
Again across the street and just some more random pics from between the church and the ball field.

Uncle Bob told me this is a meadowlark...

Doug and Stephen... Check out the expressions!!! :P
Ah ha ha! Duck, duck, goose! :) This is Keith chasing John.
The grape soda wasn't what we expected it to be... I hadn't had grape soda in a long time, but I thought I remembered it tasting better than that.
My lovely and possibly more than a little crazy room mate.... :P
This is for you Mom... Peter, Justin, David, Lydia Abby, Claudia and I played Trivial Pursuit. We started out with Bible trivia but it was horrendously easy, even the hard level, so we moved on to the real thing. Not quite so easy...
And for the ride home........... well that was quite fun as well. Some people took pictures....... (Like me, I took lots of pictures until Joseph Shively decided he wanted to take some pics, and then Justin took some as well)
A great representation of the master photographer, Joseph Shively.... :P
Not quite sure what Isaac is doing here...
Peter taking pictures...
Anna taking pictures...
Kenton an Isaac sharing music, sometimes one earbud from each of their ipods in each ear, how that worked out I'm not quite sure... (oh and Nikki! :) )
And some enjoy the fine art of facial contortion............ (this pic also courteous of Joseph Shively)
Haha until it was too dark anyway...
We had lots of fun blinding people with flashes from our cameras. :P
Hmmmm. for the rest of the week.
Tuesday night some of us went to Wooly's and got Italian cream sodas. I actually got a white chocolate mocha, and uh, was a bit hyper that evening. :P Later that night (Tuesday is cleaning night) all the girls cleaned and danced to the sound of Michael Buble and Josh Groban. Well, they didn't dance to Josh Groban, mostly just Michael Buble. :P It was quite an entertaining night.
Wednesday I went to AWANA at Calvary chapel. Bethany and I are gonna be secretarys for Sparks and I'm going to help with verses in Sparks as well and possibly help with verses in T'n'T as well if they need me.
Thursday was fun. All of the girls were invited over to Miss Haynie's for games and snacks and stuff. Christiana and I got to walk there (yay!). It's about three miles, so a really good walk. Whil we walked we watching the storm clouds gather and start to thunder a bit. Not ten minutes after we got there it started absolutely pouring. Later after we were back and after dinner there were big puddles on the basketball court so Anna and Christiana and I went out and had fun splashing each other and getting very very wet. :) Then we went to get Claudia, but she suspected something was up and locked herself in the library office and wouldn't open the door for anything. I had to talk to her through the book return slot. :P
Friday Rach, Isaac, and Christine and I drove up to Rapid to AWANA at Rapid Valley Faith Baptist Church. We're pretty much the only young people helping out with that one. The rest are late sixties and above I'd say. It's a really small club, only about twelve kids came last week. The people here are really neat. Hot Springs is more rural than Rapid, but the people at the Rapid church seemed more "rural" than the ones at the Hot Springs church. They seem more like farmers or something. Just a really neat bunch :)
Friday evening we went over to Friesens and watched part of an Indiana Jones movie before curfew loomed over us and we had to got back to the dorms.
Saturday, Claudia and I went to Pamida and then to Subway. I got a very yummy turkey jalapeno melt sandwich. And Claudia got some sort of Italian something. And while we were sitting there, Keith walked in the door, so he ordered and then came and joined us. And a few minutes after that Michael Jarvis comes in. So our original group for lunch that consisted of two. Grew to four.
OH! have you ever seen Huskers fans? Insanity! I didn't hear it, but I'm told that some of the guys put the tunnel walk song thing on a player and walked all around campus with it blaring. And then EVERYONE from Nebraska wore Nebraska t-shirts or even jerseys.. I've never seen football fans before, so it was quite the experience. :P
Sunday we went to the Black Hills Bible Church in Pringle. Following that we had a potluck, and then an afternoon service. Then we got to come home and study!
And that's pretty much all that is interesting that has happened since Labor Day.
I apologize for taking so long to update, but it is very hard to find time to do this. It's taken me at least two hours actually to complete this. So I should probably go now and do something productive.
